AIDATA Econo Mobile CPU StandIt's time for a little review. This time I'm going to show you a cheap, but pretty useful object. It's a computer stand with wheels. The stand I've got is from AIDATA, and is pretty common. It's sold a lot of places, also here in Denmark.
Specifications:
Content: The box content is the actual computer stand, together with a bag of wheels and a bag of screws. Besides that, there are some neoprene stickers, so the computer doesn't get scratched when in the stand. And then there is an assembly tool, used to assemble the stand.
Assembled stand: It takes no time to assemble this stand. All screws fits perfectly, and the nuts fits in the pre moulded holes in the stand. The stand can be assembled with the fingers, and then tightened with the applied tool. At the end, you can apply the neoprene stickers on the sides. That way you prevent scratches on the sides of the computer case.
The test: Now, it's time to mount the computer in the stand. It is of cause pretty easy to mount under the computer. You loosen the stand a bit, put the computer on it, and then press it together on the sides. After that, you can tighten the screws. That way, it stays firmly on the computer case. The biggest problem I found on this stand is, that the computer can't stand on the feet. Many new computer cases has ventilation underneath the case, and that won't work with this stand. If that's the case, you'll have to mount some kind of plate. That way the stand can be used with the new computer cases, so they can stand on the feet underneath. The advantages with having such stand is, that you can easily move the computer when vacuuming the floor. That way you don't have to move heavy things, and can easily get rid of the dust underneath the computer.
My oppinion: This product is as basic, as anything can get. The stand does what it's supposed to, and that is to hold the computer elevated over the floor, and make it easy to move around. It does that to the full. When you add that to the price which is around 120 DKK, then it all makes sense. Some might see it as negative, that the stand doesn't meet the demands for new casings with dust filters in the bottom. But I believe, that if the buyers has such a computer case, then they find another solution, or modify this one.
